how accurate is DNA info? I mean in terms of proving someone guilty of a crime, or proving if your the father of a child. its always on that stupid jeremy kyle show - but im sure i remember hearing/reading something saying that DNA evidence is generally not accepted in court. is that true as well? if so...then why bother with a DNA national database...?

DNA is very reliable and certainly is accepted in the courts.

It is lie detectors which are unreliable and cannot be used in court.
I think you are referring to the recent admission by DNA testers that if the sample is too small, they apply an extrapolation algorithm, it is this that the courts are less than happy about. It is also worth pointing out that the presence of DNA does not prove guilt only that the DNA is present. DNA is merely contibutory evidence it proves nothing by itself.
