I think you have got your facts slightly wrong. It was Georgia who invaded South Osetia a territory that included people sympathetic with Russia many who were kiilled or forced from their homes. All Russia did was to try to protect these people under threat from Georgia.

If the UK invaded Eire because its country bordered on ours all hell would break loose.
