long weekend in paris
Hello. I am taking my 2 daughters to paris this friday for three days they are 10 and 12 years old, I am wondering if anyone can recommend anything that may be alittle different. we have no itinery and are driveing, any help would be much appreciated. thanks

Driving into Paris - do you have a deathwish! The main problem for the kids will be the queues if you opt for the Eiffel tower or seeing the Mona lisa - usually a scrum 10 deep in front of this tiny painting.
It depends what your kids like to do, but as hippyhoppy says seeing the lit-up eiffel tower from the boat bus is lovely and also if you can be at the Trocadero when the lights go on and the fountains are illuminated that too is very special (and free).
The Musee d'Orsay is better for an arty interlude for kids, than the louvre, as it is an interesting building and has pictures that they might relate to from primary school etc eg van Gogh and Impressionists. The sheer size of the Louvre and its endless corridors can cause severe loss of will to live.
The churches such as Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur de Montmartre might be interesting - but if what your kids really like are rides, take them to disneyland as they will be bored rigid by the city stuff.

Your children are at the upper end that most of the attractions in the Jardin d'Acclimatation are aimed at but I still think that you'd find it a very pleasant half-day out:

However, there are plenty of rides, animals, shows, etc which are mainly for youngsters (although adults enjoy them as well). There are also several places to eat, ranging from cheap caf�s to very upmarket restaurants. It's about a million times more civilised than Disneyland. There's a small admission charge for entry. (�2.70 per person). The rides and attractions are fairly cheap, especially if you buy the carnet tickets. The nearest Metro station to the Jardin d'Acclimatation is Les Sablon, which is on Line 1 or you could catch the little train from Porte Maillot (Metro Line 1 and RER Line C).
Another park well worth visiting is Parc Andr� Citro�n. (Nearest stations: Balard at the end of Metro LIne 8, Javel Andr� Citro�n on Metro Line 10 and Javel on RER LIne C). It's principal family attraction is the tethered helium balloon in which you can ascend to get some great views over Paris:

However, if the sun's shining, your daughters should take their swimming costumes. The fountains, at one end of the park, provide a wonderful playground for youngsters:
