It will not take any longer for the administrators to extract the Grant of Representation (colloquially Probate).

They will need to get details of all the assets owned at date of death together with all the debts owed. If IHT is payable, that will have to be paid before the Grant is extracted. If it is a large estate, with business assets it could take a wee bit longer, but anyone with half an ounce of sense should be able to get a Grant in most straightforward estates within 8 weeks of death.
