Is anyone else experiencing difficulties on Answer Bank?
When I try to type on the site, it does not respond immediately to my keyboard commands. For example I press a letter key and I have to wait some seconds for the type to appear.
When I try to close Answer Bank, I get a message that the programme isn't responding.
I have had to type this in Word, copy and then paste.

Tried closing and restarting my computer that does not help.
Where do I find the Task manager Ethel, to find how much memory my browser is using? I am on Windows XP.
Could it be anything to do with that pesky red squirrel? When I try to select the Technology page, it loads an orange site.
I also have a suspicion that Answers.com could also be causing a problem but I cannot find it in my Add and Delete list, to enable me to get rid of it.

To find task manager either ctr+alt+delete or right-click on the taskbar at the bottom of your screen & select task manager then select 'show processes from all users' then 'processes '. Beside firefox there will be a figure such as 67,000 k . Report back here what it says . Someone else will have to help you after that bit tho

there is a known problem with a recent update to windows/ie, flash - with which ab abounds - and .....
but what do I know ...

it's a problem with flash - this week a new security update went out ... can (but not always) cause this. there are a couple of other factors at work
about two months ago there was a similar problem with IE crashing (the IE needs to be closed message).
MS know - and there is a fix ... (you need access to the technet site - so no link) but honestly it's not worth the pain - it will go away shortly - hopefully with the next update on wednesday.
the key is the CPU charge ... not memory useage.

mem useage is (can be) an issue ... but more important is the (process) CPU number - and (performance) useage history.
windows is good at using memory ... and sometimes will swallow as much (or more that) you have fitted - that's normal
but the CPU can only go to 100
the system idle process should be (at rest) +- 2 be at 98
any other should only rise when it's running - so VSMON or whatever will rise to 90ish when scanning ... but should be 0 most of the time.
few "normal" apps will get above 30 (scanners and media often do though).
high memory useage .. is often not an issue (unless it's 1 of many symptoms)

I always tell my muppets to run task manager for a couple of weeks to "get to know" their machine

You want it as low as possible, but opening new tabs and new windows means that you'll use more memory. 67Mb isn't much though. Right now my firefox 3 is using 125Mb of real memory -- with 7 tabs open.
