Hi,

We have just had tenants move out of our rental property and they have somehow managed to lose the key for the gas and electricity meter that is situated on the outside wall of the house. Apparently this is a universal key (we borrowed one from a neighbour and it fitted) but I have no idea where to get one from. I have looked in DIY stores but no such thing seems to exist. Has anyone heard of this before and know where to get one?

Thanks in advance.

try ringing national grid gas and asking them if they would post you one out, i think the numbers 0800 999 111 but it will be in the pone book (they were previously transco)
This is usually a triangular key and most hardware stores will have them. Alternatively do a search on Google, there's any number of companies which sell them. Charge the tenant for whatever it costs.
Bull-nosed pliars work
we bought one in homebase.
my key was missing when i moved last year and i simply rang my energy supplier and they sent me a new one free of charge
