The obvious solution would be to repaint your walls, maybe make one signature wall, using a decorative wallpaper. If you can afford to, have your carpet steam cleaned or hire a steam cleaner from a hire shop. Maybe put some rugs down on the shabbier parts of the carpet. Ikea have a huge range of rugs for various budgets.

If you are able to have your sofas cleaned then do that or if it's that they are just generally shabby and dated, add a few throws and some cushions. Put some simple new blinds up, again Ikea do a nice selection of wood or fabric blinds. put some bright modern prints or canvases up on a couple of walls and you have a new look lounge.
Hi, I agree with Velvetee and a coat of paint can work wonders. A couple of throws on your old sofas would not only hide the shabby look, but you could add colour accents with cheerful cushions and change them with the seasons for a fresh look as the weather changes.
Good places that I know about for cushions and throws are
www.dotcomgiftshop.com
www.prettypracticals.co.uk
www.glitter-pink.co.uk

Good luck with your new smarter lounge!
