Hong Kong and China

I am a british citizen with a full passport. I am currently on holiday in Turkey but want to travel to China. Do I need to go to Istanbul for a visa or can I get a tourist visa in Hong Kong? When I arrive in Hong Kong do I have to have a return/or onward travel ticket and how long would it take to get a tourist visa for China in Hong Kong?

I assume you are staying in HK before you fly to China. If so as you come into the arrivals hall at HKIA there are some desks straight in front of you. One of these will do a visa service in a few hours. Think you have to be there by noon and you get it back by 4pm. Alternatively I am sure there are several visa places in town. They just need to take a picture.
