In chivalry, 'bowling a maiden over' is a reference to cricket or to the knights ability to enrapture and captivate a damsel? I find the overlap between cricketing terminology and chivalry to be confusing and, in a sense, upsetting.

Well in cricket a maiden over, is an over where nothing is scored - not even a maiden.

Maiden is also used to in relation to the following: Fresh; innocent; unpolluted; pure; hitherto unused. It's also what a racehorse is called that hasn't won a race. Maiden in terms of women is most commonly used to describe a virgin, someone 'untouched'.
