The Doomsday Book?

Does anyone know of a poem that I had to recite years ago - it went "Oh, the trouble they took with the Doomsday book" .. I am sure it was by someone like GK Chesterton but can't find it anywhere.

I don't know it but thought "Doomsday" was spelt "Domesday" - it may help you look it up.
