To me its like when you put up barriers, trying to protect yourself from getting hurt. Thats one way to describe it anyway!

I am affraid to say this because people may take it as Racist, Self preservation in my mind is looking after ourselfs,looking after our society, looking after our older folk, looking after the the safty of this country, If a person preaches hatred deport them, if a person invades our country with drugs take away the assets, Your question is a very well thought out, I would like to think that the answers you receive are not stupid ones, I have not long come off a site that straight away the Rights bridged came out shouting, We have a right to look after ourselfs and also our Self Preservation do you not think?
