Did anyone watch Trevor Eve in the Hughie Green adaptation last night? Wash't it funny? What a guy. I still say David Dickinson and Hughie Green were separated at birth ..... Trevor Eve could do a good Bob Monkhouse as well, I think.

I enjoyed this, but preferred the one the week before with Ken Stott as Tony Hancock
Watched this when first shown. I thought it was Brill, on par with the steptoe one a few weeks back. What tickled me tho was the Lena Zavaroni bit - uncanny!
>Wash't it funny?

I watched it, and enjoyed it, but would not say it was funny.

A man being constantly unfaithful to his wife, ignoring his children, screwing any female that he met, constantly drinking and smoking, letching after young girls even in his middle age, playing with train sets into his old age.

I found it rather sad.

Trevor Eve was excellent though.
I posted about this on weds and i think he was the spit of bob monkhouse.
I fell asleep and missed the end, but I enjoyed the parts I saw, although, like vhelpfulguy, I didn't find it funny - I found it sad, and it really made me dislike the man. In all honesty, I had to look him up on Google to find out who he was so had no preconceptions but he seemed like a horrible man. I did think he was like Bob Monkhouse though (I know who he was!).
I thought it was excellent but wouldn't personally describe it as funny. I reckon Trevor Eve did a great job as Green, tho' I know what you mean about Monkhouse, their styles were, in a way, similar.
I've enjoyed all these programmes but found the Hancock one quite harrowing. I've always been fascinated by great comedians' private lives as there is quite often real angst and depression and misery behind the laughter making.
