We have a small garden and live in a coastal area and want to plant a fast growing tree to provide privacy (not leylandii).

Eucalyptus: Fast growing and evergreen.
Shop around before you buy though, I've seen all sorts of prices but I paid �15 each for 2 x 8 foot specimans.
