Is it St Patrick's day today or was it on Saturday 15th? On the radio on Saturday the DJ standing in for Stuart Mconey said it was Saturday but Google says it is today.

I have it on all my calendars as todays date.
PS - Bit confused now! have just read up about it, seems the date may have been changed to 15th March as st patrick's day clashed on the 17th with another holy day. I think tho that a lot of people will still be celebrating it today!!!
Officially it was Saturday but because of Easter being early this year its change to today
As March 17th, today, falls in 'Holy Week' it is not permitted to celebrate it on it's day ( something to do with Christian church practice I believe) it was therefore 'argeed' that it would be celebrated on Saturday the 15th this year so as not to miss out 0n a -p----, -p -,er celebration.!!!

Thanks, but which other holy day is it anyway? And who has the right to change the date of a saint's day? Must be the pope.
Its Today
St Patrick's Day is traditionally held on 17 March. This year it has been moved to 15 March by order of the Vatican because an early Easter causes 17 March to fall in Holy Week.
No liturgical feast may take place during Holy Week, so St Patrick had to give way. The last time St Patrick was 'bumped' was 1940; the next time he faces ecclesiastical eviction from the 17th won't be until 2160.
The catholic church changed it to today to avoid clahing with other celebrations. I am not sure what they are.
