Can anyone help???
When I boot up and show the task manager it shows Zonealarm running and CPU usage of about 0% to 2%, but as soon as I connect to the internet it immediately shows CPU usage of 100%!
Is this normal or have I got a bug??
Any advice or help greatly appreciated
Cheers

What process(es) are hogging the CPU?

In Task Manager, go to the Processes tab and click on the CPU column to toggle the busiest processes to the top of the display. You might also do this with the Mem Usage column.
Are you connecting usung a USB modem ... wireless ... or a router?

usb or wireless will both eat a fair chunk of processor

Possibly that's because zone alarm is a firewall!!!!
It's just coasting when you're offline
even if it's ZA Isec ... unless you are doing something ... it's only listening.

as soon as you hit the net ... it's like a dog ... bouncing, sniffing everything that passes it ......

What's your network traffic telling you?

if you leave the machine ... and it's still sending data ... you got a gremlin.
whiffey is right ... you need to look at what's running ... if you come back ... you need to include everything in task manager's processes list.

Thanks for that ACthe TROLL. If I knew how to send you the screenshots I've taken of CPU/MEM usage I would!
I've done the full scans with AVG (Virus & spyware)and got nothing more than a few 'moderate' cookies which have subsequently , been destroyed.
If you can help or advise a direction I should be going I shall be most grateful!
