points for a new driver

Are points from australia counted on your licence if you are a new driver , if so if you have 3 points on your licence from this country are you now liable to lose your full licence , the person is a new driver with still 6 months to run . Asked this question but i cant answer , any help appreciated

The UK's 'totting up' and disqualification systems are completely separate to those of all other countries. (The EU agreed, many years ago, that a driving disqualification in one member state should apply across the whole of the EU but this has not been ratified by all national governments).

You can be given points on your licence from Australia without it having any meaning within the UK. You could even be banned from driving, for a lengthy period, by the Australian courts and still be able to drive in the UK.
