I am planning a weekend break in Wales the last weekend in May. I haven't been to Wales before and I fancy going to Cardiff.
Can anyone advise what are the essential must-sees?
Also, there are going to be 6 people in the party and we fancy an apartment instead of hotel accommodation. Can anyone recommend any centrally located apartments please?
Any local knowledge about anything that might be on that weekend would also be very useful.
Thanks

The national museum is fantasic, and the folk museum (?st asaph's) is wonderful, in the open air and so great for letting off steam if younger folk involved.
Does the university let out accommodation? Might be worth a look-see.

I've never found Cardiff to be a particularly inspiring place - that's possibly because it's always been raining! - but it's worth taking a tour of the castle:

Head down to Cardiff Bay. Plenty of bars and restaurants and other attractions. The Millennium Stadium is also well worth a visit. For shopping explore the Arcades off St Mary Street in th centre. Cardiff is a great city.
Apart from Cardiff being a great place to visit, you will find also, the people of south Wales very nice friendly people. Enjoy your stay!
There is currently a huge hole in the centre of Cardiff due to a major redevelopment but there is still plenty to do.

The bay is an ideal place to eat and drink but the town centre has some great bars and restaurants too.

Choose your time to go wisely though because the hotel/apartment prices rise sharply on rugby weekends even if Wales are playing away!!!
