My wife calls me arrogant - I say that arrogant people think they are intellignet - I know I am.....

In all honesty I don't suffer fools gladly.

However, I must also point out that I am (probably) not as intelligent as I think I am.

I am also curious as to how you measure intelligence? IQ levels? Educational results? General Knowledge? Ambitions?

crafty sort  ' title ', and then your question  o brilliant el duerino...have good mates, who can hardly read or write...but are millioniares today, stopped to help a chap at the roadside ,not so long ago, flat tyre... a professor at our local uni '.... never changed a spare wheel in his life, didn't even know where the jack was ! of course i soon got him back on his way. who was the wisest person at that particular time ? him ? or me, the thick head ?

Frustrated sometimes yes, but not bored. Everyone has a different ability to understand or communicate and intelligence can't really be measured. Plus what is 'blinding obvoius' to you, someone else may not have experienced, or have knowledge of.

In both situations you mention, you have the option to walk away. But on the other had you might learn something youself if you stick around long enough!

one eye you spelt intelligent wrongly
Good answer Lindy Loo.

Personally, if I know someone might not understand something, then i'd explain it in a different way. That way, i won't look like a big head and won't have to keep explaining it, i get my point over and the other person won't feel belittled or stupid for not understanding. Common sense I would have thought to someone with intelligence, unless you want to get over the impression that you are arrogant?!?!?

Can't possibly answer - don't take that the wrong way.
