thespian is an actor, from the Greek Thespis - a poet bloke, usually a thespian is an old experienced Shakesperian actor and often portrayed as gay e.g. Sir Ian Mckellen

In the radioshow 'Round the Horne' there was a character called Dame Celia Molestrangler who was described as a thesbian. I guess it's a female actor and the implication that she's a lesbian.
