I have received an e-mail from Sky telling me that due to changes I need to change my pop client settings. Can anyone show me how to do this as i cannot see any helpful instructions from Sky.

The following assumes that you're using Outlook Express as your e-mail client. (The instructions are probably similar for other e-mail programs):

Open Outlook Express
Go to Tools > Accounts.
Click the 'Mail' tab.
If you've only got one e-mail account it will already be highlighted. Otherwise click on the relevant account to highlight it.
Click 'Properties'
Click on the 'Servers' tab.
Enter the information provided by Sky.
Click 'Apply', then 'OK'.
Click 'Close'

thanks Beunchico. If only it was that simple. Sky do.not use OE it's their own through google. They ask you to make server client changes but have no facility for doing so. The current settings will be removed at the endof Jan so what I will do after that I don't know. Looks like some long and expensive telephone calls ahead.
I'm sorry that didn't help.

If you're using web-based e-mail access (e.g. via the Sky Tools web page) any changes to 'pop client settings' are completely irrelevant to you. These only matter if you choose to access your mail through a POP client, such as Outlook Express, Outlook or Thunderbird. So you may have to do nothing at all.

Alternatively, you might choose to switch to using Outlook Express to receive your mail. (POP access is far better than most web-based applications). Instructions are here:

Thanks again Beaunchico. Yes I am talking about the Sky Tools web based E-mail. I do notice in the settings options the choice of pop enabled or disabled. At the moment I notice that pop is enabled.I'll wait until the end of January and see what happens.Strange that the should send me an e-mail telling me to change my settings to sky .tools.com and smpt.sky tools.com and make no provision todo it.Thanks again
