You should make a complaint Tiggs. Late on Sunday, I went to a supermarket and had to use the loo. There was a note pinned up, saying that the place was cleaned hourly. No WAY! There were grimy fingermarks on the door from the day before, the base of toilet pedestal was minging - and the floor looked as though it hadn't been mopped for days. Not all cleaners are bad ones, but, particularly in hospitals, the cleaning supervisor should make regular inspections. trouble is, many visitors - and doctors (!!) don't cleanse their hands before going into wards. Stuff's available but they just walk past it.
Do you mean it can't be right, or it can't be correct?

Yes it is correct - whether or not it is right is open to debate.
Well having personally known people who have contracted MRSA in hospitals and the trauma this has caused, and knowing that they haven't got a chance in hell of compensation (they have no funds for legal expenses), then I think the award is disgusting and immoral and makes me very, very angry.

The only thing I hope is that Miss Ash has a ounce of human compassion and donates the majority of this to suitable charities. I doubt it though!

I shall draw an opinion on Lesley Ash before I draw an opinion on this situation.

Leslie Ash WAS a fine actress. Quadraphenia (especially when she was humped by Kevin Wicks from Eastenders) and Men Behaving Badly were good.

However, she became too big for her boots and started dating that football chap, Chapman. As far as I am concerned he was an alcoholic wife beater BUT she stood by him. Now I understand that some women are financially dependent on abusive men so stay in the relationship. Ash's case was no such thing.

And then all that lip business when she (HORROR OF HORRORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) aged a little bit.

She stayed with Chapman because she wanted to be a wag. She liked the notoriety. Broke her ribs in a sex act, MY ARSE!!!!!!!!!!!!. He beat her, plain and simple.

In other words she turned in to a self-obsessed s1ag.

I am afraid she deserved all her ailments. ALL self induced. ALL avoidable.

But does she deserve 5 million????????

Yes she does. And the others who have received less should now appeal and try to raise their stakes.

I have private health insurance, but this does NOT offer a casualty service (do any???). So if I broke an arm or something I would have to attend a public hospital.

These, as proved, are filthy and rife with a myriad of bugs and nasties. This is mostly due to immigrant filth doing the cleaning. What is clean is some muslim country (remember they wipe their bums with a bare hand!!!!) is still filthy in a civilised country like ours.

If we can't export these immigrants back home nor shoot them, then bloody well train them to clean our hospitals. How hard can it be????

While I doubt Leslie Ash could have earned 5 million from acting in the future, remember she was doing the Homebase adverts with the guy from Men Behaving Badly.

Not sure what she earned, but advertising pays VERY well so if she has lost the potential to earn that she deserves the money.

(Mind you it could also be said that after doing that stupid thing to her mouth she would never be taken seriously by anybody again, so her career was probably over anyway).

Be interesting to know if she has to walk with stick all the time and when out of the gaze of the press she can hop, skip and dance. I wonder.
Personally, I thought her career was over as soon as she had that done to her lips. But seriously, regardless of the reasons she was in hospital ( it is not our business to know) ths should not have happened. We have known about MRSA and other infectios diseases being picked up in hospitals for years. What have the NHS done about it ? Not very much. There is no excuse for lack of basic hygeine. Where are these Matrons they keep promising us. I had an appointment just before Christmas. Whilst there I had to go to the loo. The floor was full of urine. You could actually smell it, so it had been there for quite some time.
It is about time the NHS got their act together on this. If a high profile case such as this is what it takes to get them to do something, then so be it. If what Leslie Ash has done actually makes a difference and as a result lives are saved, then she should be commended not ridiculed.
