i know i'm missing some periods. help, lol.

you might want to add the Romans after the Greeks, and maybe the Middle Ages after the dark ages (they often get lumped in together, but there was a big difference between 400 and 1400).

If you're thinking of art movements (and this seems to be chiefly a timeline of western art), impressionism ought to go in there somewhere. Plus some would add baroque and rococo after renaissance.

oh yes, baroque and the middle ages. i was unsure whether i wanted the information solely confined to the west, and from the list above i am guessing most of them arnt. for instance, avant-garde was confined to europe in the 19/20th century.
i should have said, the periods applied to the whole world, the major settlements and the like from the fundaments of humanity to the occidents and orients.
