Mince Pies were traditionally made with stars on the top to represent the coming of the Magi to visit Jesus. It is said to bring good luck to stir the mincemeat clockwise and bad anti-clockwise. If you eat a mince pie on each of the 12 days of Christmas it is also said to bring luck.
More modern tradition is that Mince Pies are one of Father Christmas' favourite foods
