THANKS RAZZA If one looks at Chambers carefully one can see exactly the point you are making
i agree with matydalover, the simplest explanation is most likely to be the correct one. in this case, a loaf that has been around for a while will become stale

Razza - I have done as you suggested. The definition of FLOAT STONEpartly fits the clue re 'for a while', plus anagram of 'loaf' etc., but unless I am missing something altogether, is this the correct answer? I have done the other 99 without too much difficulty (asked for help on about 6), why can't we nail this one?? Or do you think you have?!
Who knows,to me it fits the question, but only 95% convinced myself.
I've just mailed my answers off. The first time without having to resort to hints from AB - it must be easier this time. My last entry was 'stale bread' but like others I am not 100% convinced.
Can anyone tell me what I can do for the next five and a half months before the next quiz arrives?
I put 'stale bread' and have now mailed it off as it was my last answer. Only 99.9% confident though. Can someone tell me what I can now do for the next five and a half months before the next quiz arrives?
Sorry. I lost that 0.01% after I had read everyone else's thoughts.
I put Stale Bread too. Unlike others I was perfectly happy with the answer, it made perfect sense to me, in as much as I "knew" I'd solved it when I thought of it!

Niles
daily bread
Could be daily bread
I had thought of that (see above) but I'm still not sure that daily fits properly. You can do a daily " round " but not "around"
Lapis No 53 Loaf around etc. So what did you decide or are you still uncertain? I am still waiting and hopeing to be convinced !! but it seems that it will be an inspired guess.
-- answer removed --
I wondered about "Bread queue" or "Break bread". Any thoughts?
No 53 Loaf etc etcI I Can only answer this by saying that the relevant thread only includes 20 answers instead of 33 as shown in Lapis query. The last answer shown in brackets was dated 27/11 00.16 but there is no sign of this on the thread CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE THE MISSING ANSWERS HAVE GONE ???
