how can i refurbish alloy wheels?

Could anyone please give me basic plan to refurbish my alloy wheels? What materials, what order and what tasks?

�30 to �50 to do each wheel at a good garage,depending on condition.

or wait for the tyre to be close to illegal, then get a new set of alloy with tyres from halfords or motorworld, cheaper then buying them seperately.

I was going to recommend Halfords. They do some blinding deals on alloys, including tyres
