Hi, my 9 year old daughter has been chosen to represent her school and give a cheque to the local premature baby unit, but my daughter would like to take a 'gift' of her own. Does anyone have any ideas as to what she could take? I'm completely stuck for any ideas. All answers welcome. Thank you.

Tin of chocs for the nurses and docs?
Question Author
Thanks beryllium, that's what my friend suggested.
that is such a sweet thought, bless her.
bearing in mind at 9 years old, her pocket money wont stretch that far, plus these are very poorl babies and very tiny, how about a couple of tiny baby bonnets or bootees as these are in short supply for these babies who need to be kept extra warm.

Her nickname with everyone who knows her is 'prem' , because she was born 4 weeks early and a diddy 5lb 12 oz. She is still diddy now bless her. I think I'll go with chocs and knitted bonnets and bootees, thanks guys.
A lovely thought, Im sure they will appreciate anything you donate. My great-niece is currently in a special unit after being born at 27 weeks weighing only 2lbs 4ozs. That was 4 weeks ago and she is doing well and has gained 6ozs.
All the best to you, alijangra. My son was born at 27 weeks weighing 3lb 5oz, now hes 8 and one of the biggest in his class! He took some catching up though!
rachel79, they always need tiny knitwear or babygrows. I was lucky as someone I new did machine knitting and made me loads of cardies and socks. My friends mum made a Tiny Tears cardie, but it was too big.!!!!!
Hi wot about if your daugher and her friends go through some of their toy boxes and take a box of toys up for all the little premature babies brothers and sisters? It will keep them busy while the mums and dads can talk to the docs and nurses.
My nephew was born at 27 weeks weighing 3 1/2 lb he lost a bit more weight after and went down to under 2lb luckily like 'fatheads' son he is now the talest in his class too!
He was in hospital for over 3 months and there wasn't much for the little children visiting with their parents.
Thanks guys, it is very reassuring to hear that as we are all very concerned at the moment.

That's a very sweet and thoughtful little girl you have rachel,
and the staff in the prem baby unit will be pleased with anything at all , just knowing that they have been thought about . When I worked in one we were usually short of little tiny cardigans to put on the babies who had progressed out of their incubater into a cot . Gowns and nappies are provided by stores but the little personal things count for a lot in making the babies look less hospitalised.
Aligangra , all the best to your neice love , btw , I only weighed 2lbs and ...well the rest is hystory as they say :-) x
