I have recently purchased a Phillips DVDR610 Recorder, with the purpuse of replacing my video recorder. When I tried to copy a dvd onto a blank dvd, it wouldn't let me as it was copy  protected. Does any one know of a way around this please? Source dvd was playing on PS2.

you cant do it - dvds are copy protected by macrovision. the only way of copying protected dvds is using the computer.
not true you can copy a dvd without a computer. You can purchase a dvd burner that is like a dvd player for you tv. I'm not sure on the price.
If you take it though a composite video signal & back again surely there's no way the second DVD could know it was copied? Although all you'd get would be video & stereo sound, no options menus etc.
