How do I look up a company?

I've had a gander on Companies House website, but not having much joy. Does any one know an easy way to look up info on a company? Thanks Jason

To be certain you will need either the exact company name or, even better, the company number (if they're legit it should be on all their headed notepaper - if that's missing, there's a clue).  You can get very basic info for free but you can order more info from the website if you want.

Depends what you want to know.....if you want their financial accounts, you should be able to send off for them from companies house. However, if you are after more general information, then try Hoovers or Datamonitor etc. You can subscribe or just get free capsule information. Many larger companies place their financial and policy information on their websites too. Hope this helps.
You could also try contacting your local Business Link office; they should be able to provide basic info for free and more detailed info for a modest fee. Find your nearest office via http://www.businesslink.org
