ok think I have the eyes thing sussed.

Brown is dominant gene - each person provides a baby with one gene at conception. Since both you and your boyfriend have blue eyes - neither of you carry the brown gene or it would have won out and you would have brown eyes - you must both have the blue gene only - hence you can only pass on blue genes (no denim jokes please!) and so your children would have blue eyes too as they could not get the brown gene...

Hope this makes sense! :-)
That's basically right. There's more than one gene involved in eye colour, so it's not always as straightforward as depicted above, but generally it goes that way. Hair colour isn't related to eye colour, by the way, certainly not causally.
The eye colour of your children will probably be blue but it is very possible that you and/or your husband carry other recessive colour genes or diluting factors for your eyes.

Their eyes could be grey, grey-green, hazel or many shades of blue. The genetics for eye colour is now quite complicated due to the frequent mixing of races in the last few of decades.
Here is a website where you find out about your childs eye colour.

I disagree with what is said above. Yes, brown is a dominant gene, but it doesn't always 'take effect' as such. My mum has blue eyes, and my dad has browny-green, but my eyes, an my sisters' eyes are blue, therefore, making brown the recessive in this situation.
And eye colour and hair colour don't relate to each other.
RooraSondazu, the explanation (in simplistic terms) is as follows:

Your mum must have two blue genes, because blue is recessive and if any other colour were present, that would dominate a blue gene.

Your father has brown eyes, but must have one gene for brown, and one for blue, the blue being recessive.

You get one gene from your mother - which is necessarily blue, and one from your father. It can be either blue or brown. If it is brown, it will dominate your monther's blue gere. You have blue eyes, therefore your father passed on his blue gene, and you and your sister both have two blue genes.

you will probaly have brown eyed kids because its a predomenant gene
