Great Britain won the gold medal for mens field hockey at the 1920 olympic games held at Antwerp and also at the 1988 olympic games held at Seoul. However in 1908 the Great Britain England team won the gold medal at the games then held in London.
I can therefore only conclude that the statement is false as the 1908 team did not represent all of Great Britain as Ireland, Scotland ans Wales each had their individual Great Britain teams at these Olympics.

Hello Alcan
Thanks so much for your letter. It is great that you know so much .It is a sport that I am not very up on. I only found out that they won in 1920 and 1936 but after that there was no more edited. Although you say 1920 and 1988 -- you may be right and me wrong but I shall put my answer as false.
THanks once again for your trouble. It is so nice on this site and people are soooo helful and friendly.

You are very welcome Diamond Life!
Just for the record In the 1936 olympics held in Berlin it was India who won the gold medal in mens field hockey - but as a british colony was forced to march behind the flag of Great Britain at the opening ceremony. They won the final 8-1 defeating Germany on their home soil!
