I had a tooth (lower left molar) removed on Thursday and it still hurts quite a lot, anyone experienced this recently, and any tips on helping it heal? Should I call the dentists tomorrow if it's not feeling better, or am I worrying unnecessarily?

You could try rinsing with some salt water. This should help prevent infection in the hole, which would be the main reason for slowing the healing. I hate dentists.

I would echo jenky's advice and swill with salt water about 3 times a day. I had a back double removed a while ago and thought it would be fine after a day or so, but was still in pain after a week.

Don't forget that it's also a shock to the system and your nerves have had a good jangle so they need time to sort themselves out but, and it is a big but if you are at all concerned do contact your dentist.

Hi Nicola Red,

Not a related answer and it seems you dislike chavs as so do I, if you want to see a funny site go to www.cecimoz.co.uk and click on the chav links at the top left!

Who actually likes chavs? PS: I only found out what they were a couple of days ago, as I'm from oop north and we call them scallies there.

Aha. I'd forgotten about that. My colleagues and I are regular visitors to the chavscum site so I'll take a look at this one.

You could have an infection, hope it clears up soon!

If it is really painfull as though you have tooth ache without the tooth it could be whats called a dry socket which i had a few years ago and was very painfull, you will have to go back to the dentist for treatment and antibiotics, hope this helps and that you get it sorted xx
