Does anybody else think that Sir Ian Blair should either resign or be "pushed" now that the IPCC report has been released today?

Lonnie, I posted this last week.

Let's just nail the lie that Menezes was here illigally. It was stated by the Immigration office at this trial that:

"He went to Ireland in April 23, 2005, but there was no record of when he then came to the UK. As a person entering Britain from Ireland he would have had an automatic three month leave to remain which at the earliest would have run out on July 23, 2005, the day after he was killed.

So he was NOT HERE ILLEGALLY

Needless to say, people continued saying he was here illegally in the posts which followed.

"Earlier, Mr Thwaites cross-examined immigration official Paul Roach over a counterfeit stamp found in the Brazilian's passport, asking if this meant he had been in the country illegally.

Mr Roach told the court Mr de Menezes first entered the country on 13 March 2002 and was given six months' leave to remain, before extending his stay, as a student, to 30 June 2003.

The next record was of him arriving in Ireland from France on 23 April 2005 but there was no notification of when he returned to the UK.

The court heard how as a person entering Britain from Ireland, he would have had an automatic three-month leave to remain which at the earliest would have run out on 23 July, the day after he was killed.

A counterfeit stamp found on his passport may only have been added after he entered the UK, Mr Roach said."

So I take it he had applied for an extension yo his visa to run from the 23rd or had booked on a flight out of the UK.
chompu I presume he could easily have boarded a ferry to Ireland as he had before, who is to know? No one, we will never know but what we do know for a fact is that he wasn;'t here illegally.
Why Then did he have a counterfeit stamp in his pssport ?
Don't know, you would need to ask him that, oh thats right, we can't. Counterfeit stamp or not, he still was not here illegally on the day he was killed. Actually with all the discrediting attempted by the Met police who is to say where or when the stamp was placed on his passport?
Chompu, apologies for the post above, that is pure speculation and cynicism on my part, please ignore.

Don't worry. No need to apologise. I just don't think it's as straight forward as he was here legally. As per Gromits' post above, where was he from June 2003 until April 2005. If he was in France surely his passport would have been stamped as he is not an EU citizen. Or was here illegally from June 2003 to some point in 2005.
Gromit,
My apologies, I missed your post, but at least we are in agreement.
Morning chompu, just thinking if it is relevant as to where he was from June 03 to April 05 as I am trying to base my thoughts on facts (hence the retraction of my somewhat speculative assumptions!). I completely appreciate that this is a multi faceted case but deep down an innocent man is dead and that I just cant get away from.

Regards & respect

Oops, sorry Dassie for deviating from your question.

........and how convenient the Met suddenly discover "new" evidence on the Stephen Lawrence case at the same time to try and deflect the focus away from this shooting and the resignation calls !
Yep Dassie, I noticed that too!
