I had just, after extensive searching, found a suitable size solid wood breakfast bar at Homebase, however when I went there today to buy it, I was told that the item is pending discontinuation and they will no longer accept orders for the item. I am looking for a 2m length 800mm width and 28-30mm depth solid beech worktop/breakfast bar. I have Googled until I am all Googled out, I have looked on EBay and I cannot think of where else I can look. There doesn't appear to be any specialist kicthen shops etc in my area, I think the big DIY sheds have been their death knoll anyone got any ideas where else I can look please? Most worktops available in the diy stores are 600mm wide and are not wide enough.

Hi Jules, try http://www.howdens.com,they are trade only so you need to find someone who can open an account which is easy. They do 2.4metre by 900 mm wide breakfast bar solid beech tops,so it may be a little wide.My friend is using them for her worktops, she has researched for months! Hope that helps.
Sorry that should be http://www.howdens.com !!
http://www.above-it-all.co.uk/howdens/companie s.htm is a list of where they are situated as the site doesn't tell you.

thanks Barb - I have checked it out and they seem to only do the 3m x 900mm wide breakfast bars which I will then have to get cut, but of course I am then going to have to pay extra for the longer worktop even though I don't need that length and extra to get it cut, so I might keep looking.
No problem Jules,if I spot anywhere else on mt internet travels,I'll let you know.
