Is laminate flooring bad for the environment? Is real wood better? Are carpets worse? I'd presume wool is better than polyester, but I hope the sheep are well kept. Help. I need to choose new flooring after a flood but also want to take care with the environment.
Thanks in advance.

laminate is vile!! well in my humble opinion, unless u get the most expensive, it looks and sounds nasty, noisy too! real wood will last longer, and carpets and cosier and warmer, less noise too

i`ve just got in from work so a bit hyper today
Ceramic tiles in a bathroom and kitchen are ace , easy to wash and eco friendly . Laminate flooring is ok in certain rooms but noisy and cold . Go for a carpet as the house will feel warmer , think I would have a manmade carpet as it will wear better than a natural one .

Linoleum is environmentally friendly but no matter how nice they try to make the patterns I still think it;s a bit yucky for a lounge.

There are some good reclaimed timber websites too which do flooring but they need sanding and sealing.

Plus if I look for the FSC symbol, this means the wood comes from sustainably managed forests. I think I am going to go for carpet, perhapa a natural material one, thanks for your help, I'll keep searching.
