ive seen an advert to pay extra upon service time for your engine, to have your ECU cleaned. What is it they use.Is it like a REDEX type fluid?

I hope this is not a wind up!

If your on the level, the ecu is a mini computer that takes charge of a lot of electronics in your car including the engine. Do not oil it!

The "clean up" is probably an update if it is needed or wiping of any fault codes.

I bet Ive got the ECU mixed up with the ECS. At the Fiat garage advert it showed an engine block with the dipstick and the oil cover out and arrows showing flow towards the CAT converter and out the exhaust, so I guessed it was a fluid poured into the oil cap filler. My interest is, if I cant puchase it from FIAT what is it that is so secret? To me it reminds me of redex but would that ruin the CAT converter?
Youv'e lost me now, what does ECS mean, electronical controlled suspension???
redex is a fuel additive that cleans fuel infectors etc etc . i wouldnt go putting that in with the oil!
This may be both an oil and petrol cleaner, my SEAT garage tryed to sell me this at the services, basicly it is a flushing oil put in between the old and new oil plus a fuel additive put in when the engine is run with the flushing oil. I would only use this if you are doing a lot of short runs with a lot of cold starts. Other wise just reguarly change a good oil and perhaps use a super fuel a few times during a long journey should be OK.
i know what it is i worked on cars for 10 years, the chap answering the question is obviously confused as to what it is hes seen on the advert

Thanks to David 1702198 and Colin6789 I think I see where Ive got mixed up. Its the new names they have for the automatic systems in the cars nowadays that has fooled me.
