If someone were to open a chain of McDonald's style Indian fast food restaurants serving popular dishes eg tikka wraps, tandoor kebabs et al, would it work ? Would u try it or would prefer going to a traditional Indian restaurant ?

I'd try it, I love Indian food, lol
i think that's an idea that might work.
Can someone please open one in our village? I have to travel 6 miles to the nearest town (one very good Indian take-away, one decent chippie & that's about it!) & if I want to go out for a proper meal (not pub grub), it's a 60 mile round trip!! That's why I cook my own.
sounds great to me, as long as its real meat, I dont trust MacDonalds to serve real food
I'd go to it! However, I wish someone would open a chain of fast food restaurants that only sell healthy food that is calorie counted and tastes just LIKE ...... Indian, Chinese, Fish and Chips etc.etc...........
I agree with Pirate. In years to come we will tell our grandchildren "I remember when you could only get Indian or Chinese food takeaways delivered!"
How about a takeaway where you can choose things like roast potatoes, vegetables, chicken or beef, yorkshire puddings, and the gravy would come in a cup instead of sweet and sour sauce!
Or a takeaway that delivers really nice calorie counted nutritious food. Where you knew what the ingredients were!! There must be a market out there...

Intriguing responses ! Thanks, but for an Indian fast food restaurant concept to become popular do u think that the emphasis should be on authentic taste & experience or nutrition & health
People generally don't want nutrition and health when eating out. Eating out is a treat so people generally want to stuff the diet and eat nice food for once! I remember Rosemary Conley saying she toyed with the idea of opening a chain of healthy diet restaurants, but she honestly thought nobody would come. It would have to be different to an Indian takeaway and I think the reason they are so popular is that the food is SO amazing. British impersonations- McDonalds tikka wrap type things are lame in comparison. They do try and do the "foods of the world" type things but it all just tastes like McDonalds. Indian food is exquisite- could you get the genuine spices etc and make the food taste really authentic?
Nobody does an Indian breakfast bar.

Food such as:

Masala Dosa

[Some of the Popular foods for breakfast in South India are dosa, idly, upma, appam, idi-appam (rice noodles eaten with either sweet coconut milk or a meat curry), idli and puttu whereas in North Indian breakfast khichri and Parathas are a favorite dish. ( mixture of rice, lentils, and spices) ]
Breakfast the Indian way anyone?
I was in Amsterdam about 20 years ago and we found a chinese/asian fast food takeaway and it was fantastic. You got just enough for lunch as a full meal would have been to heavy and it was very reasonably priced too.
A similar concept works in some 'fast food' food courts in shopping malls.

They seem to be very popular ~ and I for one would relish an Indian fast food restaurant!

I think here in the USA if you put a drive thru window in the side of the building so people don't have to leave their car to buy it you could sell just about anything - probably even a peanut butter sandwich!!!

Indian fast food chains do exist, the one that springs to mind is 'Shahi Kebab', they are mainly in west london though.
