I have been given one of theses laptops and told the only problem was the battery needed charging. I have done that but machine still not working. I son't want to fork out for a new battery if that not the problem. Any ideas? Thanks

Does it work if you plug it into the mains?

No, even when plugged in the power light doesn't come on.

No point buying a new battery.

Are you sure you have switched the machine on

Was it a friend who gave it you ,if so give it back to them so as they can get rid of their own rubbish !

Yes - even with the charger in plugged in and switched on. There is nothing - the power light does not come on. The charger LED lights so is working.

remove the battery - then try starting using mains.
be careful though ... the battery is part of the case's strength - so be gentle
