Is it just me or does anyone else think that there is no need for Cillit Bang Barry to yell how good his product is. I'm sure that advert is about 25% louder than any other advert on tv. Why? If I see it on the shelf, i'll think of Loud Barry and deliberately buy another product.

That made me laugh CT. No you're not the only one - I sit there in amazement as it is such a truely awful , cringeworthy ad that they must have spent about 2 making.. And why the heck is the product called Cillit Bang. And what the hell has barry got to do with it - did he invent it or something. Perhaps we should set up a de-fan club entitled Ban Cillit Bang Barry !!!!

Also very irritating is the series of ad's for Safestyle windows and doors....the ones with Cannon and ball, Ken Morley and the shouting long haired window man.

Running closely behind that must be the Helibed ad's, although this might only be seen in the Central area.

Both are prime examples for the connoisseurs of shouting.

Any more?

halfadaily - I can vouch for the fact that the Helibed ads are not exclusinve to the Central area. They infest us down here in the Meridian region too, although they only seem to have stores in a tiny part of the region, namely Wiltshire. Bit of a trek from West Sussex just to buy a bed :-)

Mr "nobody" Barry is back.

These ads are really non ads -- all of them as it turns people away form the product. Maybe it is some sort of Tax dodge Ha Ha!!

YOU BUY ONE & GET ONE FREE -- YOU BUY ONE & GET ONE FREE ~~ GOT IT

Imagine living with any of those :)

Another annoying one is the Confused.com ad with the shouting Scottish guy. Maybe kwillmott is right they could be non-ads. Or maybe another theory is that they could be trying to corner the market of the HARD OF HEARING viewers.
i agree!.. all those ads are most cringeworthy, however, have you noticed that you all remembered the exact name of the products they advertise? if the cillit bang advert wasn,t as annoying,do you really think you would remember the product?(apart from the silly name, another clever marketing ploy)

Some of you Cillit Bang fans may enjoy this rather clever "re-mix" someone has done - must have taken hours!

Also note, that Barry Scott is not real. It's actually an actor. He only says his "name" so people think that he's a celebrity.

Oh red_flag, you've shattered all my illusions. Do you mean to say that people in adverts are not really who they say they are? You'll be telling me next that Sharron Osbourne doesn't do all her shopping at Asda, or that Alan Sugar only does ad's for charity.
No. I'm saying that unlike Alan Sugar and Sharon Osborne who are genuinely famous and put their REAL names to products, stores and charities (whether or not they use them), Barry Scott is entirely fictional, and that the name "Barry Scott" is purely used so that viewers are meant to believe that his is a name we should recognise.
