Can't get my head round this kind of stuff.

I read this passage tonight when looking up a website with bible quotes in it and I just can't get my head round the way that if this was to happen today then I'd say you'd definitely be locked up. Like if God came along and told someone to do this, they would probably be institutionalised. And I don't think I'd accept someone saying it was different times cos God's been around for millions of years so I don't think another 2000 would make much difference to his state of mind about these sorts of matters. Here's the quote "Then the LORD summoned Moses (A) and spoke to him from the tent of meeting: (B) 2 "Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When any of you brings an offering to the LORD from the livestock, you [a] may bring your offering from the herd or the flock. If his gift is a burnt offering (C) from the herd, he is to bring an unblemished male. (D) He must bring it to the entrance to the tent of meeting so that he [b] may be accepted by the LORD. (E) 4 He is to lay his hand on (F) the head of the burnt offering so it can be accepted (G) on his behalf to make atonement for him. (H) 5 He is to slaughter the bull before the LORD; Aaron's sons the priests (I) are to present the blood (J) and sprinkle it (K) on all sides of the altar that is at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 6 Then he must skin the burnt offering (L) and cut it into pieces. [c] 7 The sons of Aaron the priest will prepare a fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire. 8 Aaron's sons the priests are to arrange the pieces, the head, and the suet (M) on top of the burning wood on the altar. 9 The offerer must wash its entrails (N) and shanks (O) with water. Then the priest will burn all of it on the altar as a burnt offering, a fire offering (P) of a pleasing aroma (Q) to the LORD." Anyone got any opinions on this?

Out of everybody I am surprised at Naomi24 description of God, just because we do not believe in Christianity and The Bible, we have no right to judge Gods actions or call him a psychopath. Dont hate the creator because man has twisted 'religion'. You know aswell as I do that the Bible has been added to and had bits taken away here and there, oh and whole gospels taken/added to support mans control over the masses, not Gods control- MANS control. Why do you quite rightly so, discount the portrayal of Jesus and the teachings in the Bible, yet believe what THEY think God is. Maybe you have been conditioned into thinking God is a pscycopath (which in turn causes you to fear God, easier to control you then). I really respect you Naomi and know you are aware of the truth with regards to the Bible but I still cannot discount a Creator, and therfore would not like to judge him/her. I would like to think that God is just as outraged as we are that evil prevails with regards to peoples naive belief in the Bible. Read the Jesus Mysteries, by T. Freke. It opened my eyes to how religion had turned me from God.

First the Nag Hammadi Library, now The Jesus Mysteries. You're gonna turn me into a serious bookworm commonsense. But it's all so annoyingly interesting.
Commonsense, neither can I discount a creator - but the god of the bible he (it?) isn't!
Unfortunately the Bible has been interpreted by "the Church" to suit their own needs. How can anybody blindly believe everything that is written there. If I asked you to write down what happened so many years before in such detail I bet you couldn't remember let alone passed on and on. It's a bit like that old example of "Send re-inforcements, we're going to advance" when passed on down the line became "Send 3 and fourpence, we're going to a dance"
Yes I believe there is a supreme power (God) but the Bible? no thanks. "The Church" are a bunch of hypocrits, look of the number of clergy accused of inappropriate sexual actions !!!! The Bible is (mostly) a collection of inaccurate reported speech. Everybody talks of the second coming of Jesus. How do we know he hasn't been already and we missed him or he's here already somewhere in a remote part of some Country. I have my own beliefs and will not join the "brainwashed" society. Do not wear blinkers when dealing with this subject.
what does god do with all this blood? what is the point of it?

its a very convenient 'punishment' - its like saying
''if you don't be good i will whip myself'' ... errr, fill yer boots mate!

doing something wrong and then killing an innocent animal and believing it makes everything alright makes no sense.

who, in their right mind, would want animal blood? what purpose does it serve?

i cannot fathom how it changes anything.

if someone had wronged me and to make it up to me brought me a bowl of blood and a dead carcass, i'd be furious and never speak to them again - i would alos think they were deranged.
