Backpacker insurance suitable for my trip?

I'll be going to Hong Kong for 4 days before onward to Japan for 11-12 months on a student visa to study there. Would a backpacker insurance be suitable in covering me for this trip as this is the cheapest insurance I have found so far. Thanks.

If you are considering attending dangerous sport activities, it might be wise to get a slightly more expensive insurance.

I won't be partaking in any dangerous activities. I just want the most basic insurance cover.
If I had my choice I wouldn't bother with insurance but only because my university states it as cumpulsory.
