Type names like Seamus Heaney, Brian Friel, Derek Mahon, William Trevor, Colm Toibin, Paul Muldoon, MacDara Woods, Anne Haverty, Marina Carr, Sebastian Barry, Vincent Woods, Jennifer Johnston, Hugh Leonard, Tom Murphy, Paul Mercer, Roddy Doyle, Eavan Boland, Thomas Kinsella (poet), Eva Bourke to start with among the living, for poetry, prose and drama.

Among the recently dead, try John McGahern and John B Keane. That should put you on the right path.

Among the 'longer deceased' there are three Irish Prize winners: William Butler Yeats, George Bernard Shaw and Samuel Beckett.

Type in Field Day Derry to give you some further steering.

Good luck. Keep me updated, if you wish.
Hi ladorada again
To avoid being accused of snobbery I include some fine writers who are writing "literature" but are writing - and selling - books by the bucketload:-
Kathy Kelly
Cecilia Ahern
Patricia Flanagan
Marian Keyes
Alex Barclay
That's just some of the women for starters
