Confused about Italian rail travel reservations...

I've tried www.trenitalia.com multiple times but ran into website problems. I've tried to decipher how to make reservations on a trip from Venice to Rome, one way, on raileurope.com as well, and have opted to finally wait until I get to Venice before we purchase our one way tickets. We are traveling during this month, June 07, and I am afraid we won't be able to get two seats on the train and time frame we want. Any help on planning Italian rail travel online? Will I be able to get our tickets while in Venice at the train station without any difficulty during the summer high season? Thanks for the advice guys!

I've just come back from working away for a few days and the very first AB question I read has a reply which is complimentary to me. That was a nice 'welcome home' message. Thank you, The Prophet.

I'm not sure that I'm quite as 'expert' as has been suggested, but I'll have a go at answering anyway:

My advice is to forget about booking online - just pick up the phone. The first place I'd try would be Deutsche Bahn (UK). They sell tickets on behalf of most European railways and don't charge a booking fee. If they can't help, there's always Rail Europe. They charge a 6 booking fee but that's per booking, not per ticket. There are also several other agencies which could probably provide you with tickets and reservations (but do watch out for hefty booking fees with some of them). Details are here:

However, before you completely give up with online booking, you might like to try this website:

I have tried the trenitalia site(english version) to book tickets from Rome to Naples.I got as far as putting in the credit card details to confirm the booking. At this point I was directed to a site that woundn't display (error 404 message).
The booking failed and I'm hoping me details are not floating about in cyberspace. The price for 4 adults was 59.20 euro.
Checking the same train on italiarail.co.uk came up with a price of 59.00 (fifty nine pounds) so there is quite a mark up on this site.
