reduce hedge size

I wish to reduce the width of my hedge about a foot and also r educe the height,I have tried my hedge trimmer but that does not work I wondered about a electric chain saw.

Hello Artblue,

What type of hedge do you have?

If your going to need to use a chain saw to cut it back, depending on the type of hedge you have it may or may not grow back so you may be left with an ugly looking hedge.

For example if you cut back beyond green growth in the case of Leylandii the hedge will not grow back where as a yew hedge will.

I thank you for your reply the type of hedge that I have as very small leaves I have cut into it with a hedge trimmer before and it as grown back,I wonder if a powerful electric hedge trimmer with a wider cutter would do.
