Small problem but will try to expalin.

Main telephone sokect downstairs, and a telphone extension lead has been ran upstairs to the office under the carpet.

When i plug the modem into the telehpne extension lead the broadband says 5.1mbps and keeps disconnecting after a short period of time.

I have now purchased a longer ADSL cable and have plugged it into the main phone socket downstairs and the PC stays connected to the internet all day, no problem. Plus the speed says 7.2mbps.

Can someone explain why?
