I asked the following question about an MP3 player in technology :

http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Technology/Ques tion410520.html

and copied a link to it into Shopping as it applied in both areas- it has been banned in the shopping section, but I don't know why - I asked the Ed in the suggestions section, but my question doesn't appear there either - I don't understand what I have done wrong. Can anybody enlighten me?

I have seen loads of posts in more than one section, so I wouldn't have thought that it was that.
Maybe the Ed didn't like the content!! Several posts were banned for that reason yesterday.
maybe smeone reported it for cross posting?
also, questions about why tech questions have disappeared dont belong in b and s either!
while i still have this stick up my bum, questions about questions dont go in suggestions either ... its a section for making suggestions in, not for asking the ed questions. You can do that by emailing her. Maybe that helps you understand why your question didnt appear or disappeared?
the questions that i posted were in the correct category, were not abusive in any way and disappeared. The one I posted in suggestions is still there and it certainly wasn't a question for the ed!
So i still don't know why mine disappeared.

you're right about the stick bednobs - didn't you read the question? I tried to ask the ed and my question didn't appear either! I was asking a question that did affect my body and soul as it was irritating me that I didn't understand - if you don't have anything helpful to add then please don't bother.

thanks for the responses metz and efc - I don't think it was the content, I was only asking for a recommendation of an MP3 player. Unless the Ed works for Apple and didn't want me to stray from an ipod, I can't think why that would be offensive.

Also bednobs read the question - it didn't disappear from technology - otherwise, how could I post the link?
i am afraid its hit and miss on here lol
What have you done wrong?

bednobs provided the answers but you chose to get defensive rather than reading the content properly.

As per the Site Rules...

Avoid posting questions and answers more than once in the same or multiple categories. They take up room from other posts and will be deleted.

Also, contact with the ABEd should be made via the Contact Us link not the topic section which is meant for suggestions for improving the site.
if youd mentioned kiddy fiddling or paedos it would still be there.go figure that out eh???

Thanks for your answers guys - kempie, bednobs may have provided the answer, but did not have to be rude - we are not all experts on here and i asked a polite question - it should either have been answered in the same vein, or ignored - there is no need to be rude just for the sake of it. Thank you for showing me where the relevant information is, I had not noticed those bits at the bottom of the screen before, I never scroll down that far!
crikey, i dont see what's impolite about me answering your question. On as serious note, it would really help me if you could point out where i've been rude, so i'll know for future? (sincerely)

It wasn't so much what you said, it was the way you said it, I was only looking for some help, not critisism - most postings in B&S aren't even questions. I was also a bit pee'd off in general as I find it frustrating just to have banned put next to something with no reason given. I carry out audits for a living and wouldn't survive 2 minutes if I told somebody that they had done something wrong and not tell them what it was or suggest how to fix it.

However. that aside, I accept that you were answering my question and I apologise if I came back a bit too strong - truce?
no worries!
thanks for taking the time to answer. Its interesting that how others percieve what you say, and what you think you've said are 2 different things.

i suppose what i wanted to say is :
cross posting getsthings banned as does putting things in the wrong section if they are reported as such (or sometimes they move them to the right section instead. The second post was to warn you if THIS post also got deleted either from suggs or b and s its probably for the same reason. Some days on here its almost like peoples questions get banned, then they ask aquestion as to why it was banned, then that get banned cause it dosent rrelate to body and soul so then anpther question gets asked why was my post banned where i was asking about my post being banned, that was banned gone? And it can go on for a long time!
Question Author
Thanks bednobs - I have put a Q into suggestions to ask for a category or reason to be given when something is banned, but I have had no response. This would maybe stop the ongoing saga of why was my post banned questions. I think I was annoyed as I am generally a very law abiding person - to the point where I feel extremely guilty if I walk on grass when there is a path nearby - even if there is no sign!

My youngest son is like me - I told him when he started school that it was school rules that you had to eat your sandwiches first from your lunch box - he believes this so much that one day I gave him a wrap and he was very upset and thought he would get into trouble because he couldn't eat his sandwiches first as he had no sandwiches! He wants to be a judge.
