I have a full time office job as a project manager but thinking about changing direction. There are a few jobs I am interested in (police officer, teacher and architect fo starters!).... but to find out more,i would like to spend a 'day in the life of...' whatever career ive got in mind.
One of my options is to join the police force - would I be allowed to spend a day with a local police station/ officer to get to see what the job really involves?
Likewise, I had always wanted to be an architect, so whats the chances of calling up a local arcitect and asking to spend a day with them? Or spending a day with a teacher in the local school to see what they have to put up with?
Do you think companies or certain professional bodies ould allow me to do this?
Im 28 years old so its a litle more than work experience and would not expect to be paid
Any comments/ sugggestions about how to go about this would be gratefull received!
I would hate to look back in 50 years and wish 'if only i had tried...'
Thx

If you are interested in becoming a police officer, write to your local police headquarters outlining your intentions and ask them if it would be possible to spend the day with a local officer to get a feel for the job. Some areas allow this and some dont.
If you have any questions about becoming a police officer then please feel free to ask. I'd be happy to help.
