We had some fish die in a bucket while I was cleaning the small pond they lived in. They were dead for about 2 hours before I realized it....possibly from a lack of oxygen. Is it still safe to eat these fish. I cleaned them right after finding them dead.

Tricky - they may be diseased.

I would have no qualms about eating any healthy fish, but I wouldn't eat a fish that died through unknown causes.

You are eating your pond fish?
What type of fish are they?
why would you even think of eating your pond fish?
Delia Smith does a good receipe for grilled goldfish!
I'd agree with Ethel - if you odn;t know exactly why they died, it might be something really nasty. Bin them.
Depends what sort of fish- that is if they werent diseased. Most fresh-water fish are pretty grotty to eat. I once saw roach on sale in our local market so though what the hell- try anything once. Verdict- like eating muddy cotton wool stuffed with needles.
How did pond fish die from lack of oxygen being in a bucket? How long were they in there for and did you have them totally covered up preventing any oxygen flow?

Actually, Im still struggling to get over the whole eating your pet fish bit! lol Hmmm..... I fancy stir fried cat tonight!
Just eat them and dont worry about it. I ate my neigbours labrador last week. It was dead for weeks before hand. In fact i had to dig it up.
are you serious, eating your deceased goldfish?
i don't think its wise...i think i'd flush them if i was u
Are you sure the water in the bucket didn't warm up too much in the sun?

I am sure you are joking about eating the fish.
