windows installer patch package missing????

Word was playing up so I uninstalled and reinstalled microsoft office 2003 complete. then i did a system restore, now I cannot open any word/excel docs. it says to check windows installer patch package - I dont know what this means. I have windows xp.

Why did you do a system restore AFTER installing? I would now uninstall and reinstall again.

Wideboy is right .... office will create a restore point BEFORE is installs (and this will probably be the one you restored)

run the install again (ttry the repair option)
