I'm a member of a local social club , and there is no proper disabled toilet , the toilets do have grab rails etc . but a carer of the opposite sex obviously can't take the person in . I have contacted the council and unless it's a refurbishment or rebuild they don't have to change anything as it's not a legal requirement . This issue has been brought up at every AGM , but unless you are looking after a disabled person it's easy to by pass the question . So what 's the answer ? The committee have now decided to spend 6 K on a shelter for the smokers !! Probably they all smoke , be interesting when they are in wheel chairs due to fags and can't use the access the toilets but the smokers are still puffing away in an expensive shelter . So what is right !!!!! Would appreciate your thoughts and views.

You're both right. However, they've obviously decided to go with the build that'll get the most use, probably on limited funds.
6 k on a shelter ? cant they get a 200 shed ? and spend the rest on the toilet
I would have a word with your local Councillor and you might find you get some action, or casually mention that it would make a good story in your local paper ... might make them think again

Suppose we will have to resort to blackmail !! It's not a lack of funds , they just won't spend the money on a disabled toilet . Also this club doesn't even sell cigarettes, as they were to expensive !! How ironic is that ?
Have a read of this to see what rules apply:
