we have a 14 month old neutered male rabbit and bought an 8 week old female yesterday as male was lonely. male sniffed round new addition for a while then tried to mate with it.my question relates to this-will male continually want to mate ? is 8 week old female too young to have a larger male mating with her ? if he mates once would this be just a way of him letting her know he is around ? hoping they will be able to live together as friends eventually

Hi, i have 12 rabbits, so am speaking from experince, not as a medical expert. Firstly, bunnies can still make little bunnies up to 4 weeks after neutering, so my vet told me. secondly, my female bunny mounted a neutered male bunny once when first introduced...it is a way that they express their dominance. Bunnies are social animals, and as a rule will settle into a relationship as they love companions. The only combination often DOESNT work is two entire males together,or two entire females together. Hope this helps, It sounds like your too will work out just fine!!
